Biography
Ariana Vargas (she/her/hers) serves as the Associate Director for the Center of Academic Equity. She was born in Groton, Connecticut but spent a significant time of her life in San Antonio, Texas. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and Masters of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Texas State University. In 2020, she completed her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Research at Louisiana State University.
Since beginning her career in higher education, Ariana has lived out her life’s mission as an educator and advocate for social justice, inclusion, and equity issues by contributing to efforts that lead to welcoming and inclusive campus environments for diverse student populations. She works to cultivate inclusive and community-oriented learning opportunities that foster student success, leadership development, and dialogue across difference. In addition, her professional experiences include DEI training and facilitation, advising, strategic communications, programming, and curriculum development.
Outside of work, Ariana enjoys drinking coffee, trying new restaurants, watching movies, paper crafting, and listening to true crime mysteries.
