(Formally known as the CAE Academic Emergency Grant)

CAE Academic Resource Grant

Students studying at tables in the Center for Student Life.

Purpose

The mission of the Academic Resource Grant is to support BIPOC, DACA and Undocumented, QT, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities who are full-time Newcomb-Tulane College undergraduates. This grant is available to assist students in responding to unforeseen financial hardships/emergencies that adversely impact their academic success.

Students must apply for consideration, but awards not guaranteed. All applications will go through the Office of Financial Aid in order to determine eligibility to receive funding within each applicant's respective financial aid package. If awarded, funds are as one-time grants that generally do not exceed $500.

Important Application Details

Tuition related and insurance costs are not emergencies the grant can cover.

  • Course Materials
  • Internet Access
  • Interview Prep
  • Graduate School Prep
  • Laptop Repairs
  • Textbooks
  • **Other types of emergencies are considered on a case to case basis.**

Supporting documents for these expenses should be submitted in order for your application to be fully considered.

Applicants will receive a decision within 5-7 business days. Applications may also receive a follow up email in order to acquire information and/or documentation necessary to render a decision. If this follow up email is not responded to within 30 days, the application will be denied and closed.

Students who are funded by this program will work with the Center for Academic Equity to complete any necessary processes for disbursement of their award.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis in the fall and spring semesters, but students are eligible to receive grant funding once a semester.

Students are also only able to receive grant funding once per type of academic resource.

We understand and believe that AI can be a useful tool when drafting documents and materials necessary for college, especially for applications for funds just like ours. However, if used improperly, the use of AI can also hamper one’s ability to develop necessary skills for life after college and can lead to unintended problems like plagiarism. To help grant fund applicants navigate this, here is our policy on the use of AI in respect to our Summer Grant Fund Application.

You are allowed to use AI to:

  • Help design and format application materials.
  • Check grammar, misspellings, etc.
  • Organize thoughts, points, and ideas.

You are NOT allowed to use AI to:

  • Generate submitted material.

If it can be determined beyond a reasonable doubt by a reasonable person that AI was used in your submitted material, your application will automatically be disqualified from consideration. If you are unsure about any of your materials and their adherence to the policy, please feel free to email us.
