The center supports a monthly gathering of First-Gen students where students connect with their peers over a meal. These events allow for mutual support, information sharing, outreach, and access to speakers who can address concerns and issues unique to their experience.
The award-winning Student Success Center at Tulane matches students with certified coaches who help them create individually tailored plans to accomplish the tasks necessary to succeed in the institution’s rigorous academic context.
In addition to the luncheon series, the center provides funds for travel and attendance at First-Gen conferences nationwide.
First-Gen college students who want to augment their high school preparation can participate in the Newcomb-Tulane Summer Experience transition program, which helps students get to know the campus and New Orleans.
Tulane provides myriad opportunities for First-Gen students to extend their learning through the summer with research, summer school, and internships.
